A Reddit user has revealed that OnePlus is changing the battery of the OnePlus 3, OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 6, and OnePlus 6T smartphones for free in India. These smartphones are pretty old phones and if you happen to own any of them with battery issues, you can take it to OnePlus for free battery replacement.
However, they are charging for labour. This means that while you get the new battery for free, you will pay the technician for his/her time spent changing it. According to the Reddit user, the replacement labour fee for the OnePlus 5T costs Rs 473.
The user said that OnePlus might be doing this because they have a large number of batteries in stock and being that they are 3 to 4 years old phones, there is no other option than to give it out for free. He also said that it is a walk-in service.
It is advised that you change your battery if the health level is below 70%. You can check this via the OnePlus Diagnostic app. In that app, you will have an option to “View Battery Status” click on it and you will see your battery health level.
The OnePlus 3 comes with a 3000mAh battery capacity while the OnePlus 6T comes with a 3700mAh battery. The OnePlus 5, 5T, and 6 comes with a 3300mAh battery.
