Yesterday, we reported that the Huawei P50 series will be launched on July 29 as per a reputable tipster. We also said that netizens revealed that the majority of the P50 series will be offered in 4G versions only.

Now the latest report we got is that Qualcomm is planning to launch the 4G version of the flagship Snapdragon 888 chipset. Qualcomm who owns and made the Snapdragon 888 had revealed that the chipset comes with 5G capability.

Currently, Snapdragon 888 comes integrated with 5G. To explain further, any smartphone with Snapdragon 888 chipset is considered a 5G smartphone because Snapdragon 888 offers 5G connectivity.

Now, the famous and reliable tipster via Weibo by the nickname “Digital chat station” has hinted that Qualcomm might be launching the 4G only version of the Snapdragon 888 very soon.

In his words, he said “Not only SM8350 has a castrated 5G baseband version, but sm8450 also has plans. I don’t know which company Qualcomm is going to give out” – translated from Chinese.

Another tipster on Weibo also talked about the Snapdragon 888 4G and revealed that the next Huawei P50 phones will come with it. Digital chat station also pointed out that the Pro model of the Snapdragon 888 will come integrated with 4G only.

All this confirms our report yesterday that the Huawei P50 series will come in 4G versions only. It is also worth noting that Huawei is only allowed to use Qualcomm’s 4G chipset. So on July 29, we might see the P50 series running on Snapdragon 888 4G.

Separately, it was revealed that the P50 series will use a 1/1.18-inch sensor for the ultrawide angle camera. The P50 Pro and the P50 Pro+ is rumoured to use 1-inch Sony IMX800 as their main sensor. If that turns out true, that will make them the phone with the biggest camera sensor ever.

The P50 will have a slight curve on its OLED display, while the P50 Pro and Pro+ will have “waterfall” curved sides. Huawei P50 series based on the render revealed officially by Huawei will come with a four-camera sensor at the rear.

The cameras are in two separate huge circular modules, just like the Honor 50 series. About the P50 series though, they will include the Huawei P50, P50 Pro, and the P50 Pro+. Like they usually do, there might be a P50 lite later.
