OnePlus has finally confirmed to unveil the OnePlus 9 series on March 23 this month. They also revealed their partnership with Hasselblad to deliver an enhanced camera experience on the OnePlus 9 series. Hasselblad is a well-known high-quality camera manufacturer and they are based in Gothenburg, Sweden. OnePlus has also signed a $150 million deal to partner with them in the next three years and bring an improved, enhanced camera experience on its smartphones.
The founder and CEO of OnePlus, Pete Lau, made the following statement, “With OnePlus’ top-of-the-line hardware and computational photography and Hasselblad’s rich aesthetic knowledge in traditional photography, I am confident that the OnePlus 9 Series will be a major leap forward in our ability to deliver a premium, flagship camera. Their first product of the collaboration is an advanced color calibration that is called Natural Color Calibration.
It is claimed to bring more perceptually accurate and natural-looking colors to photos taken with the OnePlus flagship phones. There will also be a new Hasselblad Pro Mode that will include Hasselblad’s sensor calibration for more accurate and natural color reproduction. The Pro Mode will bring the ability to adjust ISO, focus, exposure times, and white balance, among others. It will also support the 12-bit RAW format.
OnePlus 9 series will include three models, OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro, and OnePlus 9R. The OnePlus 9R is rumored to be called the OnePlus 9E. We have seen some specs leak of these upcoming smartphones. Here is what we learned about the series, starting from the OnePlus 9.
OnePlus 9 series rumored specifications
The OnePlus 9 will come with the Snapdragon 888 chip. This device also uses a 6.55-inch 120Hz refresh rate FHD+ resolution screen with a size of 70×151 mm. The lens part will include the two main cameras and 2MP cameras of the OnePlus 9 Pro. This smartphone will also come with a built-in 4500 mAh battery that supports a 65W fast charging head. The least configuration will be 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
The Pro variant will come with a 6.7-inch 120Hz refresh rate AMOLED screen as well as the Snapdragon 888 chip. Of course, it will have the Hasselblad quad rear cameras (including a 48MP main camera, 50MP auxiliary main camera, 8MP, and 2MP lenses). This device will support 8K video (30 FPS) and 4K video (120 FPS). It will have at least 12GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
OnePlus 9R or 9E will be the smallest version. It will come with a 6.5-inch 90Hz FHD+ display. It will also use a mid-range Snapdragon 690 chip with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. This device has a 64P main camera and uses a 5000 mAh battery that supports at least a 30W fast charge.
