At the MWC event in Barcelona, Tecno announced that it will be using Samsung’s RGBW colour filter technology in its upcoming Camon smartphones. The Camon series smartphone from Tecno has always been known to deliver high-quality photos both in low light and in the daytime.
So with this addition, Tecno is changing the game to a whole new level. The technology allows your camera phone to capture high-definition images, especially in low light, dim and dull surroundings.
The latest RGBW sensor adopts an innovative pixel arrangement, where it introduces the White pixels which are much more light-sensitive as compared to the RGB pixels, without damaging the original three primary colours (RGB).
The beauty of this technology lies in the fact that with White pixels, you get 1.7 times better light sensitivity, which improves the overall brightness of your camera and reduces the colour distortions.
The 64MP main camera will carry the new RGBW sensor. This will increase the light input of the CMOS sensor, which in turn will give you brighter and sharper images without affecting the contrasting dark backgrounds. Moreover, it uses Glass + Plastic (G+P) technology, which effectively increases 30% light intake, further enhancing the final picture quality.
The tech will likely be present in the upcoming Camon 19 series smartphone. As of now, the launch date of the Camon 19 series is unknown but stay put to GizmoAfrica incase of any development.
