The most popular smartphone series Xiaomi makes is the Redmi Note series. Almost all newcomers to Xiaomi usually picks the Redmi Note series because they offer more at an affordable price. But it is sad that despite being popular and appreciated by many, it doesn’t get updates early enough like other series.
But they said it is better late than never right? Well, the Redmi Note 8 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro have started receiving MIUI 12.5 update in India that is based on Android 11. The Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with Android 9 Pie and MIUI 11 out of the box but later last year got the Android 10 update via MIUI 12.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro on the other hand was announced with Android 10 via MIUI 12 but got an Android 11 update last year in November. Now the two smartphones have started receiving MIUI 12.5 updates. The Redmi Note 8 Pro’s MIUI 12.5 update brought Android 11 to the table and July 2021 security patch.
The Redmi Note 9 Pro MIUI 12.5 update brought an August 2021 security patch update. Redmi Note 8 Pro MIUI 12.5 update has V126.96.36.199.RGGINXM firmware version while the Note 9 Pro has V188.8.131.52.RJWINXM firmware version.
As always, the update is being rolled out in batches so not everybody will get the update now. But before two weeks, everyone must have gotten the update.
