OnePlus Nord 2 has been confirmed officially, alongside the chipset. The Nord 2 is going to be the successor of the Nord smartphone released last year. It has been on the rumour mill since last month. We have even seen the renders, specs, and release date tipped.
Now OnePlus has confirmed that indeed they are working on the Nord 2. Not only that, but they also confirmed that it will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset. This was made known through a press release from OnePlus.
In that press release, OnePlus said that they have teamed up with MediaTek to bring an optimised Dimensity 1200 chipset to the OnePlus Nord 2. This confirmed the presence of the chipset. The company also said that the Nord 2’s Dimensity 1200 chipset will come with an improved AI features.
Some of the features include AI Photo Enhancement, which is capable of recognising up to 22 different scenarios and automatically adjusting colour tones to ensure photos are optimised for maximum quality.
For video, it can do live HDR effects in real-time, during recording. AI Colour Boost technology, AI Resolution Boost, and Smart Ambient Display technology work together to offer a more dynamic display.
For gaming, it brings support for high refresh rate games, low latency, improved heat management, and efficient power consumption.
The renders of the smartphone that appeared last month show that it will come with a triple rear camera and a punch-hole display. It also shares the same design language as the OnePlus 9 series.
There is no mention of the release date of the OnePlus Nord 2 but rumours are rife that it could be unveiled on July 24th this month. The company has also started teasing the smartphone on Twitter which means it will be launched very soon, maybe sooner than expected.
