Motorola Moto G100 debuts with Snapdragon 870 5G SoC, Quad rear camera and more

The Motorola Moto G100 that has been in the rumor mill for some time now has been launched. It is a mid-range smartphone that comes with every spec any person looking for a midrange device can get hold of. Unfortunately, this is not a new device. This is the Motorola Edge S that debuted in China a few months ago.

The Moto G100 is priced at £449 or €499. It will be available in European and select Latin American markets starting today. You can choose the smartphone in three colors which are Iridescent Sky, Iridescent Ocean, and Slate Grey.

Moto G100 features & key specs

The G100 comes with a square-shaped camera module at the rear which houses quad-camera sensors. On the front, it has two punch-holes housing the selfie cameras. The display of the smartphone is a 6.7inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2520 pixels.

Under the hood, it is fuelled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G SoC. This makes it the most powerful smartphone in the Motorola G lineup ever. The chipset uses an Octa-core processor clocked at 3.2GHz and it is a 7nm chipset. Graphics or gaming is handled by the capable Adreno 650 GPU.

The Moto G100 is running on the Android 11 operating system. It comes in only one storage option which is 8GB RAM and 128GB ROM. There is a micro SD card slot for storage expansion. Going to the rear, the smartphone is boasting of a quad camera. The main sensor is 64MP, there is 16MP ultra-wide, a 2MP depth sensor, and TOF 3D sensor.

Moto G100 also has a dual led flash at the rear and it can record in 6k@30fps maximum. Upfront, the device has two cameras. The main sensor is 16MP which has an f/2.2 aperture, accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide sensor. The front camera makes use of the screen flash in low light.

What is keeping the light on is a 5,000mAh battery that supports 20W fast charging. There is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for security. Other features of the device include a 5G network, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C 3.1. Sensors include accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass. Finally, it measures 168.4 x 74 x 9.7 mm and weighs 207 grams.
