HTC will be stepping back into the high-end smartphone segment after years of absence. It was revealed at the Mobile World Congress. HTC ‘s general manager for the Asia-Pacific region revealed that the smartphone will debut in April 2022.
The smartphone will appeal to those who love AR and VR as it will be coming with “metaverse” functions. HTC wants to continue investing in the virtual reality product market on a large scale.
They focused on VR products over the years while still supplying budget phones to some selected markets. The last budget smartphone they announced is the HTC Wildfire E2 Plus.
The smartphone was announced in December 2021. It brings very basic specs such as a 6.82” HD+ display, Unisoc T610 Chipset, 13-megapixels rear primary camera, and a plastic body.
HTC Exodus 1 is the last outstanding smartphone HTC launched in 2018 and it is made for trading cryptocurrencies.
Most of the HTC smartphones are sold in selected markets. Whether the new “Metaverse smartphone” from HTC will be offered in Europe is currently still completely unclear.
