Fitbit Charge 5 has been unveiled. The charging device comes with an on-wrist ECG app and an EDA sensor for tracking stress levels. It also comes with Daily Readiness Score that calculates your “readiness” for a workout and suggests what you should be doing on a given day based on heart rate, sleep, and other activity.
The device looks way better than its predecessor, Charge 4. It comes with a beautiful design and a brighter display. The company said that the Charge 5 is 10% thinner than the Charge 4 and that’s pretty good. Let’s take a look at the features and price of the Fitbit Charge 5.
Fitbit Charge 5 features and specs
The Fitbit Charge 5 comes with a colour AMOLED touchscreen display which is thinner and 2x brighter than its predecessor – the Charge 4. It has stainless steel sides that double up as sensors for the ECG app as well as the EDA sensors.
The Daily Readiness Score feature which allows you to determine whether you should focus on recovery or do an intense workout is only accessible to Fitbit Premium users. The way the feature works is that it will analyse the level of your activity, your last three days of sleep, and the difference in your heart rate over a certain period of time.
Depending on the level of the score, it may suggest you should do light yoga, high-intensity workouts, or rest. The Fitbit Charge 5 also comes with a built-in GPS, 20 goal-setting exercise modes, real-time active zone minutes tracking, and automatic exercise recognition.
Furthermore, the Charge 5 will also send on-wrist notifications when the heart rate is above or below the preferred range. It also offers data on breathing rate, heart rate variability, skin temperature, blood oxygen saturation (SpO2).
Other features include hydration reminders, menstrual tracking, idle reminders, 20 colourful watch faces, Always-On display mode, email and call notifications, quick replies (only for Android), do not disturb mode, and Fitbit Pay contactless payments (in select markets).
The full specifications of the device are yet to be revealed by the company.
